Back from Deadline Hell

Whew. Here I am, back from Deadline Hell and with only a few dozen more gray hairs to show for the trip.

Just turned in the manuscript for the next installment of the Truth or Dare series for Harlequin NEXT, called MADAM OF THE HOUSE (June '06). It's about real estate agent Cecilia Katz, who finds herself knee-deep in debt after her husband loses all their money day-trading stocks on the internet and the real estate market tanks.

In order to make some money fast, she takes a page from Risky Business and decides to host a gigolo party for "mature" women. It was so much fun to write, and I can't wait to see what kind of cover art Harlequin comes up with. The covers for their NEXT line certainly have been different. I really loved the SUBURBAN SECRETS cover. (Check out the Grapevine section of my website for other NEXT authors' websites.)

Meanwhile, I've been catching up on all the TV I missed while I was under the gun. Desperate Housewives has been getting good. I love Dixie Carter as Bree's mother-in-law. Her best line (to her son, Orson): "I should have smothered you when you were a baby."

I'm bummed that Weeds has ended, but waiting fitfully for Entourage to start again. Loving The Office and How I Met Your Mother, disappointed in My Name is Earl and Two and a Half Men. Gave up on Celebrity Fit Club. It's just becoming too sad. And Extreme Makeover Home Edition; too morbid.

But I can't get too comfortable here on the Barcolounger. My next deadline is just around the corner...
